In a primary care setting, residents or medical students will become expert in all aspects of the treatment of tobacco dependence. Both medication management and group psychotherapy will be taught. The clinic treats a range of subjects with tobacco dependence, from those who are otherwise healthy to those with severe medical and/or psychiatric co-morbidity. At the conclusion participants will be able to assess and treat tobacco dependence with a wide range of severities with medication management and/or psychotherapeutic techniques. Course is offered continuously throughout the year, Thursdays, 1:30-4:30 p.m., West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Hospital, Building 500. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
