Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry

Overview

The setting for clinical study is an inpatient unit which specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients with psychiatric problems associated with aging or with neurological conditions, most of whom also have active medical illnesses. Working closely with an assigned resident and the staff, the student will admit, evaluate and treat patients in rotation with other housestaff. The student is responsible for all aspects of medical care, including those of a nonpsychiatric nature, and functions as a member of the treatment team on a daily decision making basis. The student
