Dynamic Psychotherapy - Intro.

Overview

Psychodynamic psychotherapy will be described and techniques and goals will be very briefly elaborated. Key Psychodynamic concepts will be described including: Psychic Determinism, Free Association, the Unconscious, Central role of affect, Conflict, Transference, the Superego (role of shame and guilt), Defenses, Power of the past, Narcissism (healthy and not), Empathy, Principle of abstinence and neutrality, the role of our Mourning and Interpretation.

Objectives: 
Preliminary ability to distinguish psychodynamic psychotherapy from other psychotherapies.
Preliminary understanding of key psychodynamic concepts
Preliminary understanding of the goals of psychodynamic psychotherapy.
