Anxiety Disorders: Adult (OCD Spectrum)

Overview

This lecture will provide 2nd year residents with a general overview of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). We will cover the phenomenology of OCD including the DSM criteria, major symptom factors, differential diagnosis, and comorbidity. Case examples will be presented for illustration. We will also provide an overview of treatments including cognitive-behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy, and other somatic treatments.

Objectives: 
Understand the phenomenology of OCD and how to make the diagnosis and understand basic theories of the pathophysiology of OCD
Lean general principles of the evidence-based psychotherapy and treatment modalities
