Clinical Psychiatric Interviewing

Overview

This course covers various interview techniques appropriate to different clinical scenarios and psychiatric patient populations.  Main focus is on diagnosis and assessment, countertransference and "process" and preparation for the oral board examination in psychiatry.  Students will perform an observed patient intervew, followed by a feedback session.  Meets continuously throughout the year, Mondays, 1:00 p.m., West Los Angeles Healthcare Center (VA Greater L.A. Healthcare Systems), Building 500, Room 2SAB.  Prerequisite:  consent of instructor.
