Cholinergic Receptor Imaging in Alzheimer's Disease

Project summary

We are studying a certain set of receptors in the brain, called nicotinic receptors, which are altered in Alzheimer’s disease. Using brain imaging to visualize these receptors, we are examining how much the receptors are reduced, whether they are reduced in particular brain regions, and whether their loss is linked with memory difficulty.

Aims: 
How much are nicotinic receptors in Alzheimer's disease reduced?
Are they reduced in particular brain regions?
Is their loss linked to the memory difficulty that someone with Alzheimer's disease has?
